What is Paintless Dent Removal (PDR)?
Paintless Dent Removal (PDR) is a cost-efficient method for removing dings, creases, and minor dents without using paint or fillers. PDR is a process that reforms metal back to its original condition without affecting the paint finish. Using specialized custom made tools, we meticulously massage the metal back to its original shape, therefore permanently removing the dent. We massage the metal from the backside of the damaged panel. This restores the panel to its original shape without altering your vehicle’s factory paint.
PDR can be used to fix:
Door Dings
Hail Damage
Shopping cart Dings
Small Dents
How is PDR done?
Using state of the art tools, we gain access behind your dented panel, while using a unique line board that casts a reflection across the damage. Our highly-qualified PDR technicians pin point their tool precisely on the area of the dent. In a short period of time, your door ding or dent is thoroughly removed without surrendering your vehicle’s resale value and most importantly, the integrity of your paint finish. In the end, you will be shocked at how the dents simply disappear.
How does the PDR process not harm the painted surface of the vehicle?
The process doesn’t harm the original paint at all because today’s polyurethane paints and thinner gauge metal are very flexible. PDR works from behind the damage so there’s no sanding, painting or body fillers involved. The factory paint finish remains intact and the vehicle remains structurally sound.
How big of a dent can be repaired?
That depends on the location and the severity of the dent. PDR is effective on some large dents depending on the depth and the diameter of the dent. These type of dents should be seen by our technician to determine if PDR services will work for you.
Are there certain dents that can’t be fixed using PDR?
Yes, unfortunately not all dents are fixable using PDR, however, we can look at the dent and let you know ahead of time whether or not PDR will bring your vehicle back to perfection. Certain dents do need to go to the body shop to be taken care of. They will either repaint the particular panel that the dent sits on, or completely replace the panel.
PDR can usually be used to fix a dent as long as:
The paint has not been chipped or cracked
The damage is not too large an area and/or not too close to the edge of a panel
How long does the average repair take?
Once again, this depends on the severity and location of the dent, however, most dents can be repaired in under 30 minutes.
What are the advantages of PDR over the body shop?
PDR is CHEAPER
PDR is FASTER
PDR is done as a mobile service, therefore it is conveniently done at your home…..no car rentals for the day and no having to find a ride to work
How much does PDR cost?
PDR is a small fraction of what body shops charge. We can give you an estimate based on the specific dents that you want fixed.
Will PDR harm the value of my vehicle?
No way! PDR actually protects the value of your vehicle. PDR removes dents, dings, creases, hail damage, and minor body flaws so that the vehicle’s original appearance is restored. The factory finish is not affected and neither is the vehicle’s value.
What type of guaranty comes with KBD’s PDR work?
We guaranty our work with the same KBD guaranty that we have with our auto detail services…………either you are thrilled with our work, or you are not charged a dime, period.
Attention VEHICLE LEASE HOLDERS:
Most leasing companies inspect your cars, trucks, SUVs, or vans upon completion of your lease. All leasing companies have their own idea of what is considered “normal wear & tear”. Most small dents/door dings do not fall into the “normal wear & tear” category, therefore they will charge you (at their ridiculous prices) to fix those. Call us before you turn in your leased vehicle and we can go over it so you can avoid a potentially large bill for vehicle damages.
